5 RIVERS HEART ASSOCIATION.

In 2017 cardiovascular diseases alone, estimated for over 17.8 million deaths worldwide; corresponding to 330 million years of life lost, and another 35.6 million years lived with disability. 80% of global cardiovascular disease deaths occur in low and middle income countries and these numbers are on the rise. 5 Rivers Heart Assn. was created to respond to the worsening healthcare and education crisis around the world. Our organisation was started in 2012 in hopes of creating innovative ways to deliver cost effective medicine while optimising resource utilisation. As an independent, impartial, and neutral organisation, we do not restrict our movements to any place on the globe. Originally we started with door to door screening and treatment of patients in rural areas of Punjab, India.

Current day we are holding medical camps in underserved areas of Punjab, India providing free medical care including health screening and medications for our patients. Our focus is in all fields of medicine and surgery including Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Pulmonology and Nephrology. Our organisation has had over 30 publications and presentations at National and International Medical Conferences including American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics, Transcatheter Valve Therapies, Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and Cardiovascular Research Technologies conferences. Future plans are to take our successful healthcare model to Columbia, Ghana, Egypt and underserved areas of United States.

Apart from medicine, our organization also has a focus on education. We visit local public schools in rural areas of India and provide free educational material and scholarships to needy students. We work closely with kids during our camps to show them the strength of team work. Children are taught about the profession of medicine and ways to research and advance in their careers of choice.
